Are you too busy with homework and extra-curricular activities during the school year for a part-time job? Are you looking to make some extra cash this summer so you can afford to go to the movies with your friends without asking your parents for money? These three summer jobs are perfect for any teenager looking to have a good time this summer and make some money while doing so!
Summer Camp Jobs
Since you only need to be 16 to count towards the child to adult ratio, many summer camps hire a large number of teenagers to fill seasonal positions. Teenagers can usually be hired as general counselors, activity specific counselors, and (with some experience) senior counselors that oversee the newer staff members. While the pay for these positions are usually close to minimum wage, summer camp jobs can be very rewarding! You have the opportunity to be outside and active for most of the summer, and the chance to make lifelong friendships with your fellow counselors. Staff members at summer camps tend to get very close, and can teach you a lot about the power of teamwork–a quality that will guide you in your future work endeavors!
Entertainment Park Jobs
Most entertainment parks are only open for the summer months, or have a significantly higher volume of customers during this time. Amusement parks, water parks, and mini-golf entertainment parks are always looking to hire teenagers to take on a variety of roles including cashiers, ride attendants, game operators, party hosts, and much more. These jobs may be a little tiresome as you watch customers have fun all day as you melt in the heat, but many entertainment parks will offer free admission for workers and their friends. Therefore if you can get through your shift, you can have your own fun in the park afterwards!
Ice Cream, Frozen Yogurt, Gelato, and Italian Ice Shop Jobs
It’s no surprise that ice cream, frozen yogurt, gelato and Italian ice shops are extremely busy during the summer months. Some do not even open for business until the warm weather and large crowds arrive. These shops are a great place to get a summer job because the fast-paced environment makes your work shift fly by. You may also have the chance to socialize with the staff of other young employees at slower times in the day, and may even get some free ice cream from the owner every once in a while.
